MasterChef is a competitive cooking show television format created by Frank Roddam, which debuted in July 1990 with the UK edition. The format was revived and updated for the BBC in February 2005 by executive producers Roddam and John Silver, along with series producer Karen Ross.

The show’s format has been exported worldwide under the same MasterChef logo, and is now broadcast in over 40 countries and over 200 territories.
