Last year in 2022 we have lost some of the most iconic persons in Indian celebrity. These losses have caused irreparable damage to us as a nation. From music legends to journalism heroes, their deaths have left a void that can never be filled. Here are famous Indian people who died in 2022.

Lata Mangeshkar

The name needs no introduction. The demise of Lata Mangeshkar, popularly known as Nightingale, was a big blow to the music industry. Mangeshkar died of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome on February 6, 2022, at the age of 92. She was on regular treatment for pneumonia and covid-19 for 28 days.

KK aka Krishnakumar Kunnath

The Indian music industry was in deep shock after Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder in broad daylight on May 29, 2022, when news started flashing on people’s television screens about Krishnakumar Kunnath’s death on May 31, 2022. In the beginning, people didn’t believe the news reports suggesting KK’s death. However, everyone’s biggest fear became a reality when the singer’s family confirmed the news of his demise. At the age of 53, Krishnakumar Kunnath passed away after suffering from a heart attack.

Bappi Lahiri

Bappi Lahiri was an Indian singer, composer and record producer. He popularized his disco music with synths in the Indian music industry. Bappi Lahiri died on 15 February 2022 in Mumbai at the age of 69 due to obstructive sleep apnea. Bappi Lahiri has passed away due to a heart attack in Mumbai. He was 69 years old.

Pandit Birju Maharaj

Pandit Birju Maharaj was a Kathak exponent from Lucknow’s ‘Kalka-Bindadin’ Gharana. He was known as Pandit Birju. He died on January 16, 2022, of heart attack.

Raju Srivastava

Raju Srivastava, 58, breathed his last on September 21 at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences. On August 10, he had a heart attack while exercising in the gym.

Sidhu Moose Wala

The murder of popular singer, Sidhu Moose Wala was indeed the biggest news of 2022. From the Punjabi music industry going numb to the shocking revelation that iconic international singer, Drake was a fan of Sidhu’s work, there was a lot of nerve-chilling news. Everything ended after Sidhu’s death. It was on May 29, 2022, when Sidhu Moose Wala was allegedly attacked by 8-10 assailants with guns at around 11:30 am in Punjab’s Mansa district. The assailants fired 30 rounds at the singer’s car to kill Sidhu Moose Wala in cold blood.

Vikram Gokhale

Veteran actor Vikram Gokhale passed away on November 26, 2022. He was 77. He died due to multiple organ failures in Pune.

T Rama Rao

Tatineni Rama Rao (1938–20 April 2022) was an Indian film producer. Between 1966 and 2000, he directed 75 Hindi and Telugu feature films. Rao began his cinema career in the late 1950s as an assistant director to his cousin T. Prakash Rao and Kotayya Pratyagatma, making his directorial debut in 1966 with the Telugu film Navaratri. Rao was “the man who made ‘Madras Cinema'”. or Hindi films supported primarily by southern money as a viable commercial option in the all-India market,” according to Encyclopædia Britannica. Tatineni Rama Rao, a veteran director of Telugu cinema, passed away early on April 20, 2022 at a private hospital Gaya. Chennai. Died within hours. He was 84 years old when he died.

Sandhya Mukherjee

Geetashri Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, commonly known as Sandhya Mukherjee, was a noted playback singer who specialized in Bengali music. From receiving Banga Vibhushan to Nishi Padma, iconic singer, Sandhya, unfortunately, left her massive fanbase on February 15, 2022 due to cardiac arrest. Not only this, reports suggest that Sandhya was suffering from hypotension, multi-organ failure, ischemic heart disease and left femur fracture before her death. However, despite a slow recovery in her health, she left for heaven on February 15, 2022.

Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma

Pandit Shivkumar Sharma died at the age of 84 due to cardiac arrest. He was well known for his music in the Santoor commercials.

Salim Ghouse

Salim Ahmed Ghaus was an Indian actor, director and martial artist who worked in films, television and theatre. He appeared in films in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English. Salim Ghaus is best known for his roles as Ram, Krishna and Tipu Sultan in the TV series Subah and Shyam Benegal’s Bharat Ek Khoj. He has also appeared in the television series Wagle Ki Duniya. In the 1989 Tamil film Vetri Vizha, directed by Prathap Pothen, he played a villainous role as Kamal Haasan’s rival. She co-starred with Mohanlal in Bharathan’s famous Malayalam film Thazhavaram. Salim Ghaus passed away on April 28, 2022 in Mumbai after suffering a heart attack. He was 70 years old.

Tunisha Sharma

Actor Tunisha Sharma, who also appeared in films such as ‘Fitoor’, ‘Baar Baar Dekho’, ‘Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh’ and ‘Dabangg 3’, was found dead on the sets of a TV serial on December 24.
